Educate.

Advocate.

Empower.

The Mission of the Tutela Institute is:

To provide high quality, culturally responsive, evidence-based information to families and caregivers in order to ensure equitable care for all children.

To accomplish this:

We provide in person and online courses to support parents and caregivers with the knowledge they need to positively impact their child’s development.

Why Tutela?

Tutela comes from a Latin word meaning “guardianship”. The Tutela Institute was developed for guardians - parents and caregivers of individuals dealing with communication difficulties. Our mission is to empower parents and caregivers with the knowledge and tools they need to be strong advocates for their loved ones and positively influence progress at home.

About our Founder

Hi! I’m Dr. Caitlin Raaz. I’m a pediatric speech-language pathologist and assistant professor at the University of Northern Colorado. Over the years, the most rewarding part of my job has been the relationships I’ve developed with children and their families. I believe the most effective way to make progress is to empower parents so that they can implement strategies and techniques independently in the home. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve said to parents, “I may be the expert in speech and language, but YOU are the expert on your child!”. And I truly believe that because of this, parent training and education can be a very powerful approach. Parents should never have to wonder what we are doing or why. It is my drive to provide effective and efficient training in tandem with accessible parent education that lead to the development of the Tutela Institute.
